The Scripture Index Project

A growing reference for studying religious texts. Pick a passage and see what has been said about it.

About This Project

Who We Are

The Scripture Index Project is an independent reference project. It is not run by, funded by, or endorsed by any church, publisher, or creator, and it is not affiliated with the people whose work it indexes. That independence is the point: it is what lets the index stay neutral about the material it collects.

Our Mission

To gather what has been said about religious texts into one place, organised by the passages themselves. We are agnostic about the material. We do not rule on what a verse means or whose reading is right. We catalogue the discussion, record where each piece came from, and link back to the original so you can weigh it yourself.

Our Goal

To be the easiest place to start when you want to understand a verse, a chapter, or a whole book, and to grow your knowledge of religion and theology as you go. The measure of success is not that you leave agreeing with anyone here. It is that you leave knowing how to ask better questions.

Common Questions

It is a free, open index of scripture and the media that discusses it. Every book, chapter, and verse has a page collecting the reviewed videos tied to it, so you can see what has been said about a passage without hunting through hours of footage.

No. The index takes no position on what a passage means or whose reading is right. It records where each piece of media came from and links back to the original so you can weigh it yourself.

The Bible in all 66 books, the Book of Mormon, and the Doctrine and Covenants, browsable by book, chapter, and verse. More collections are added as material is reviewed.

Media is gathered from the sources the project follows, then a person reviews each association before it appears. Nothing is published on a machine guess alone.
